WSOP Saturday report
Saturday, 25 June 2011 11:30
Hopes were high amongst the British rail that there would be a fourth UK bracelet to celebrate at this year's WSOP. Unfortuntaely it was a case of close but no cigar for the Brits as Tom Middleton, Paul Nash and Jonathan Spinks all went close but couldn't bag the jewellery.
Spinks and Nash both went deep in event #38 $1,500 No Limit Hold'em but couldn't go all the way. Spinks busted in 15th for $24,679 with Birmingham's Nash taking home $123,028 for his fifth place finish.
In what proved to be an extremely busy day at the Rio, Fabrice Soulier took just minutes to defeat Shawn Buchanan to the $10,000 H.O.R.S.E Championship title after yesterday's premature closure.
The $1,500 Limit Hold'em Shootout field of 538 was whittled down to just 60 and includes the likes of Eugene Katchalov, Victor Ramdin and Noah Boeken while Mitch Schock and Rodney Brown are the only two remaining in the $2,500 mixed Pot Limit Hold / Pot Limit Omaha event.
As expected, the field for the $10,000 PLO Championship was absolutely stacked. 170 of the 361 starters are still standing with Manny Jo in the lead and Sami 'Larsluzak' Kelopuro, Max Pescatori, Vanessa Selbst, Tom Marchese and Tom Dwan all in the top ten.
