In what turned out the best match of the season, Mega Sport Warsawa regained the title of Polish league champion which it lost one year ago to AZS Balluff Wrocław. Wroclaw had a final chance to regain the title as Warsaw traveled to Wroclaw for the double confrontation. Before the start of the two matches, the difference between the two competitors was 6 goals in the favour of Warsaw.
The two teams played on equal terms for most of the first game with the difference being that Warsaw scored more easily than the home team who failed to convert many easy scoring chances. Final score 16:27 and Warsaw celebrated as the new champion.
In the second match on Sunday, Wroclaw took some pride from the weekend by winning 25:14 but this match had no consequence on the final ranking as the title was already decided.
In these matches there was also the clash between the two top scorers in the League. In the first match Krzysztof "Rubin" Rubinkowski scored 12 goals to display his dominance in attack. AZS Wroclaw captain Maciej Zak is however now the top scorer in the league with 102 goals ahead of 82 goals from Rubinokwski. However, Rubinkowskis' team Mega Sport Warsaw have still two matches to play in Warsaw with local rivals AKK AWF Warsawa. Zak and his Wroclaw team finished their season so the gap may be reduced in these final 2 matches.
The Polish league ends on 26 June with the matches in Poznan with local AZS Politechnika and AKK AWF Warszawa. The Polish league will restart after the IKF World championships in China and the National team's preparation for the World championships will resume in August.
