Dutch International's Anti-Doping Violation

Friday, 13 May 2011 14:06

The IKF has been informed by the KNKV that one of its Registered Testing Pool athletes, Tim Bakker, has been suspended for a period of twelve months from 10 May 2011 by the KNKV Disciplinary Committee. Tim was charged following his refusal to participate in an out-of-competition test organised by the relevant doping authorities in the Netherlands claiming that the time of the test was not within the period he had specified in his “whereabouts information” submitted under the IKF’s requirements to WADA and that testing at other times was not possible.

According to the KNKV’s press release, Tim Bakker is going to lodge an appeal.

The KNKV press release stresses that this code infraction has nothing to do with the use of any prohibited product on the WADA Prohibited list and goes on to state that, as one of their elite athletes, this is a huge drama for Tim with enormous repercussions.
